Martin Huxley,
Executive Director
Martin has 35-years’ experience working in the financial services industry with the last 25 dedicated to all areas of the commodity sector, and specific focus on metals and mining. Having started his career in London, he later spent 19-year in Asia, gaining in depth knowledge and experience of the region.
Martin began his career in the natural resources sector as a Risk Manager covering the metals and energy businesses, and responsible for credit risk limit setting and monitoring of trading, structure commodity finance, oil borrowing base, and mine project, finance. He later moved to Hong Kong to become the Regional Risk Head before assuming front office roles covering financing, sales, trading, and M&A activities.
Most recently, he was the Global Head of StoneX Group’s precious metal business based in Singapore; leading teams operating out of 7 countries. Martin concurrently served as the Chairman of the SBMA from 2017 to 2021 (max term under its constitution), and Vice- Chairman thereafter. He continues to serve as an Honorary Advisor to the SBMA.
Prior to StoneX, Martin spent 14 years with Standard Bank. After moving to Hong Kong in 2004, he assumed several roles within the Asia region, including Head of Credit Risk, leading the bank’s Structured Commodity Solutions team, and Head of its Structured Finance division. Each of these roles provided him exposure and successful transacting with all aspects of the supply chain; including mining, processing, physical offtake, and financial risk management.
